Man Arrested Following Belfast City Centre Stabbing

A 32-year-old man has been arrested following a stabbing in Belfast city centre on Saturday evening. The victim suffered serious injuries during an altercation in the Bank Square area but is not believed to be in a life-threatening condition.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested following a Belfast city centre stabbing that left another man with serious injuries.

Police received a report at approximately 8.30pm on Saturday, 25 July, that a man aged in his 30s had suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds.

The incident is believed to have happened during an altercation involving several people in the Bank Square area.

Victim Taken to Hospital After Belfast City Centre Stabbing

The victim suffered injuries to his torso and leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said his injuries are believed to be serious but are not considered life-threatening at this time.

Detective Sergeant McGearty said:

“At approximately 8.30pm police received a report that a man, aged in his 30s, sustained injuries consistent with stab wounds to his torso and leg.

“It’s understood the man was injured following an altercation with a number of other people in the Bank Square area of the city.”

Man Arrested on Suspicion of Wounding

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He remained in police custody while enquiries continued.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
