Man Arrested After Serious Omagh Road Traffic Collision

A 26-year-old man has been arrested after a serious road traffic collision involving a van and quad bike near Omagh. A man in his 40s and an eight-year-old girl were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A man has been arrested following an Omagh road traffic collision that left an adult and a young girl seriously injured.

The collision happened on the Edergole Road on Saturday evening, July 25, and involved a Peugeot Partner van and a quad bike.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland received a report at approximately 7.05pm. Officers attended alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

Man and Eight-Year-Old Girl Taken to Hospital

A man aged in his 40s and an eight-year-old girl sustained serious injuries during the collision.

Both were taken to hospital for further treatment. Police have not released further details about their conditions.

Chief Inspector McConville said officers and ambulance personnel attended after police received the report shortly after 7pm.

Man Arrested Following Omagh Road Traffic Collision

The driver of the Peugeot Partner van, a 26-year-old man, was arrested following the incident.

Police said he was arrested on suspicion of offences including:

• Driving with excess alcohol in his breath
• Causing grievous bodily injury through careless driving with excess alcohol

The man remained in police custody while enquiries continued into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The arrest relates to suspected offences. No finding of guilt has been made.

Edergole Road Reopens

The Edergole Road was closed temporarily while police carried out enquiries at the scene.

It has since fully reopened to traffic.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or captured relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
