A new monthly film club is launching at The Old Courthouse in Antrim this September. The opening season celebrates “Women in Film”, with tickets priced at £10 per screening.
A new film club at The Old Courthouse in Antrim will launch in September 2026, bringing a monthly programme of popular films to the town centre.
The initiative forms part of The Old Courthouse’s programme during its 300th anniversary year. It was developed following local interest in more evening activities in Antrim.
Organisers hope the club will provide a welcoming place where people can watch well-known films, meet friends and enjoy an affordable night out close to home.
Each season of the film club will feature a different theme.
The opening season will celebrate Women in Film, with four screenings scheduled between September and December 2026.
The season begins with the iconic road trip film Thelma & Louise. Further screenings will take place on the first Friday of each month.
The new film club has been created in response to demand for more evening entertainment in Antrim town centre.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Henry Cushinan, encouraged residents to support the programme.
He said:
“I encourage everyone to come along and support this exciting new programme at The Old Courthouse. It’s a great way to see much-loved films and meet new people, all in the heart of Antrim Town.”
The club is also expected to support the town’s cultural offering and encourage more people to visit local businesses during the evening.
Chair of the Arts Advisory Panel, Councillor Billy Webb MBE JP, said:
“I hope this new Film Club becomes a lasting addition to Antrim’s cultural scene, encouraging more people to visit the town centre and creating opportunities for the community to come together.”
The film club is one of several activities taking place during The Old Courthouse’s 300th anniversary year.
The historic Antrim venue hosts performances, community activities and cultural events throughout the year.
