Event Snapshot
About this Event
Conn O’Neill resided at the old ‘Grey Castle’ that now lies in ruins in the Castlereagh Hills. This talk traces the origins of the O’Neill clan following their turbulent journey into Antrim and Down, and then charts the downfall of Con and the consequential arrival of the Scots from Ayrshire — a turning point that reshaped the cultural landscape of Ulster.
Roy Greer is the Principal of Moneyrea Primary School and author of Con O’Neill: Last Gaelic Lord of Upper Clannaboy (2019). Note that the venue for this event is Lough Moss Leisure Centre, Carryduff.
