Firefighters Continue Battling Major Blaze at Carryduff Recycling Centre

Firefighters remain at the scene of a significant fire at a waste recycling centre on Hillsborough Road in Carryduff. Residents are being advised to keep windows and doors closed while crews continue tackling the blaze.

A major firefighting operation remains ongoing in Carryduff after a fire broke out at a waste recycling centre on Hillsborough Road on Sunday evening.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service confirmed the initial emergency call was received at approximately 8.44pm on Sunday, 10 May 2026.

Emergency crews have continued working throughout the incident, with multiple specialist units currently at the scene.

Large Emergency Response Remains in Place

According to the Fire Service, there are currently:

  • 5 Fire Appliances in attendance
  • A High Volume Pump deployed
  • A Command Support Unit at the scene

The incident remains ongoing as firefighters work to bring the blaze under control.

Authorities have urged local residents to take precautions due to smoke in the area.

Residents Urged to Keep Windows and Doors Closed

People living nearby have been advised to:

  • Keep windows and doors closed
  • Avoid the Hillsborough Road area
