Council Announces Major Support For Fermanagh And Omagh Events 2026

Fermanagh & Omagh District Council has announced an investment of more than £120,000 to support a wide-ranging programme of events and festivals during 2026/27.

The funding will help deliver medium and large-scale events across the district. These events are expected to attract visitors, encourage overnight stays, increase footfall and support local businesses.

The programme also aims to strengthen the district’s reputation as a destination for tourism, culture, sport and entertainment.

Fermanagh And Omagh Events 2026 Programme

The 2026/27 programme includes events across spring, summer and autumn, with activities taking place in towns, villages and rural communities throughout the district.

Spring Events

Spring will feature a strong angling programme, including:

  • BT Angling Festival Enniskillen
  • Mini Mahon’s Angling Festival
  • Mahon’s Angling Festival
  • Saddlers Spring Fishing Festival
  • Erne Angling Festivals Series

These events continue to promote the area as one of the island of Ireland’s leading fishing destinations.

The Pipe Band and Drum Major Championship will also take place at Castle Irvine Estate, bringing competitive bands from across the region.

Summer Festivals, Sport And Family Events

The summer calendar includes a broad mix of sport, heritage, culture and entertainment.

Events include:

  • Castle Irvine Horse and Pony Show
  • Bluegrass BBQs at the Ulster American Folk Park
  • The Great Northern Road Run in Omagh
  • Enniskillen ComicFest
  • Omagh Pride
  • Junior Golf Champion of Champions World Championship at Lough Erne Resort
  • The Twelfth of July Celebration in Fermanagh

August Events Across The District

August will bring more family-focused entertainment, food, music and community celebration.

Supported events include:

  • Fermanagh Feast and Folk Festival at Enniskillen Castle
  • Black Saturday Cultural Event in Brookeborough
  • Dromore Summer Festival
  • Summerfest in Enniskillen

These events are expected to bring residents and visitors together while supporting local hospitality, tourism and retail businesses.

Autumn Events And Halloween Programme

Autumn highlights include Brassfest at the Buttermarket in Enniskillen, the Horseshoe Autumn Fishing Festival and the National Cyclocross Series at Ecclesville Centre.

The Lakelander Gravel Grinder and Gravel by Night will also return to the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark.

Other seasonal events include:

  • Twilight Harvest Festival at Gortin Glen Forest Park
  • Harvest Fair at Florence Court
  • Fright on Forthill in Enniskillen

Fright on Forthill is a new week-long Halloween event supported through Enniskillen BID’s sponsorship award. It will complement the area’s existing Halloween programme.

Fermanagh & Omagh District Council has also opened an Expression of Interest process for a Halloween event in Omagh.

Council Says Investment Will Support Local Communities

Chair of Fermanagh & Omagh District Council, Cllr Barry McElduff, said the investment shows the council’s commitment to building a strong year-round events economy.

He said the support will help deliver events that provide economic and social benefits, attract visitors and raise the profile of the council area.

He added that the programme will create memorable experiences for residents and visitors while supporting towns, villages and rural communities.
