Woman Dies Following Kilkeel Collision on Newry Road

Fatal Road Traffic Collision in Kilkeel

A woman in her 20s has died following a serious road traffic collision in Kilkeel, County Down, on the evening of Monday, 20 April 2026.

According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the incident occurred shortly before 6:30pm on the Newry Road and involved two vehicles — a white Audi A1 and a blue Mercedes-Benz.

Emergency services attended the scene, but despite their efforts, the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Two Others Hospitalised

Two other individuals involved in the collision were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions have not been disclosed at this time.

The Newry Road was closed for several hours to allow for emergency response and investigation work, but has since fully reopened to traffic.

Police Appeal for Information

Detective Inspector Stewart from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant footage, to come forward. This includes:

• CCTV footage
• Dash-cam recordings
• Any other video evidence
