Man Charged with Child Abduction Following Incident in Whitehead, Co Antrim

A 58-year-old man has been charged with child abduction and stalking after an incident in the Belfast Road area of Whitehead, County Antrim, where a man reportedly approached a child. He is due to appear before court following the arrest.


Man Charged After Child Abduction Incident in Whitehead

A 58-year-old man has been charged with child abduction and stalking following an incident in Whitehead, County Antrim, earlier this week.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed the charges after officers responded to a report on Tuesday, 10 March, of a man approaching a child in the Belfast Road area of the town.

According to police, the man was arrested shortly after the report was made and has since been formally charged.

A PSNI spokesperson said:

The 58-year-old is charged with stalking and child abduction.”


Court Appearance Expected

The accused man is expected to appear before court in due course, where the charges will be formally presented.

As with all criminal proceedings, the charges will be reviewed by the court, and the individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Police have not released further details about the circumstances of the incident at this time.
