Belfast City Hall to Host “Safe, Well & Connected” Community Safety Event

A free community safety event, “Safe, Well & Connected,” will take place at Belfast City Hall on Friday 13 March from 10am to 12:30pm. More than 40 organisations will offer advice on safety, health, cyber security, scams and wellbeing. Visitors can also access free health checks, device security checks, and community support information.


Free Community Safety Event at Belfast City Hall

Residents across Belfast are invited to attend a free community safety event at Belfast City Hall this week aimed at helping people stay safe, healthy and connected within their communities.

The “Safe, Well & Connected” community safety event will take place in the Great Hall at Belfast City Hall from 10am to 12:30pm on Friday 13 March. The morning will bring together more than 40 organisations and support services, offering practical advice and information to the public.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and refreshments while speaking with experts about issues affecting everyday safety and wellbeing.


Organisations Offering Advice and Support

The event will feature a wide range of exhibitors from both statutory agencies and community organisations. These include:

  • PSNI
  • Northern Ireland Housing Executive
  • Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service
  • Belfast Health and Social Care Trust
  • Belfast City Council
  • Victim Support NI
  • Age Friendly Belfast
  • NI Chest, Heart & Stroke
  • Carer Support organisations
  • The Consumer Council

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with experts about personal safety, crime prevention and community support services available across Belfast.


Free Health Advice and Wellbeing Support

As part of the Safe, Well & Connected Belfast event, visitors will be able to access free basic health checks and speak with professionals who can offer guidance on staying healthy as they age.

Specialists available at the event include:

  • Physiotherapists
  • Pharmacists
  • Nutritionists

They will provide advice on topics such as:

  • Preventing falls
  • Improving balance and mobility
  • Maintaining overall health and wellbeing

Device Security Checks and Cyber Safety Advice

Technology support will also be available during the event.

Ignite IT will be running a Fix-It Surgery, where members of the public can bring along personal devices such as phones, tablets or laptops to have them checked for potential security issues.

Experts will help ensure devices have:

  • Up-to-date security settings
  • Protection against cyber threats
  • Guidance on avoiding online scams

Advice on Crime Prevention and Avoiding Scams

The event will also focus heavily on crime prevention and personal safety.

Visitors will receive information on:

  • Protecting homes and property
  • Personal safety within the community
  • Recognising and avoiding scams
  • Online safety and cyber-crime awareness

These sessions aim to help residents stay informed and better protected against modern threats.


Call to Attend from Belfast PCSP

Councillor Ian McLaughlin, Chair of the Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), encouraged people across the city to attend.

He said the event builds on the success of previous safety initiatives and provides an opportunity for residents to access vital information and services in one place.

The event has been organised in partnership with trusted organisations and will include interactive sessions designed to help protect people from scams, falls and cyber-attacks.

He added that the aim is to help create a healthier, more connected and safer community across Belfast.
