Antrim’s Enchanted Winter Garden officially opened its gates for the festive season, and for many visitors, it has already become one of Northern Ireland’s must-see Christmas experiences. This week, Northern Ireland Online was invited to explore the event after receiving complimentary tickets, giving us the chance to see first hand what families can expect this year.
I brought my son, Logan, along for the visit, and if one thing is certain, it’s that the organisers have created something truly magical for children.
Hosted annually in Antrim Castle Gardens, the Enchanted Winter Garden transforms the historic estate into a glowing, immersive Christmas world. This year’s programme runs from 28 November to 30 December 2025, offering everything from sensory-friendly nights to brand-new attractions.
The event features:
Every path, archway and woodland corner is brought to life with festive lighting, and even for adults, it’s an impressive sight.

From the moment we walked through the Barbican Gate, Logan was wide-eyed.
But there were three moments he hasn’t stopped talking about:
The Ferris wheel towers above the gardens, giving panoramic views of the lights below.
Logan was buzzing, slightly nervous at first, but once we were up in the air, he was glued to the view.
“That’s the whole town!” he shouted.
The illuminated walk through Wonderland Wood and Glittering Grove was another big win.
He kept pointing out characters, glowing trees, and light effects — especially the Enchanted Tree Choir, which was new this year.
“That tree’s singing at me!” he laughed.
After the rides, Logan made a beeline for the food stalls.
A hot chocolate (covered in cream) and toasted marshmallows were the perfect warm-up on a cold night.
It might not be an official attraction, but to a nine-year-old, it might as well be.
The event uses a token system for rides (£1 each), though card payment is accepted at many attractions.
Crowds were busy but manageable, and staff kept queues moving smoothly.
Accessibility was clearly considered, with:
The only thing families should note is that some older paths can be slightly uneven, something common in historic gardens.

Pre-booking is strongly advised as some nights do sell out. Book Here
The Enchanted Winter Garden continues to live up to its reputation as one of the best festive events in Northern Ireland, mixing Christmas charm with modern attractions and family-friendly organisation.
But the real review comes from Logan.
On the way back to the car he said:
“Can we go again next year?”
And honestly, that tells you everything you need to know.
