Two Drivers Caught Without Licence or Insurance

Police in the Derry City & Strabane district have revealed that two drivers were stopped within minutes of each other for having no licence and no insurance.

The incidents took place during #OpLifeSaver road safety patrols in Strabane.

What Happened

• The first driver was detected speeding over the 30mph limit. Further checks revealed he had no licence or insurance.
• While officers were dealing with this offence, another driver pulled up at the checkpoint — also without a licence or insurance.

Both men were reported and informed they would face prosecution.

Police Warning to Uninsured Drivers

A spokesperson for the PSNI Derry City & Strabane district said:

“It is unacceptable to drive without the basic things that the rest of us ensure we pay for and would never dream of driving without.

If you are an uninsured driver without a licence and you drive on our roads in Derry City and Strabane, know this — you will be caught, you will be prosecuted, and we will all be glad to see you explain it to a judge.”
