TL;DR: An 81-year-old man, Jim McKee, has sadly died following a collision with a car in west Belfast. Police have confirmed the driver remained at the scene and are appealing for witnesses.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has confirmed that Jim (James) McKee, aged 81, from the Grosvenor Road area, has died following a road traffic collision in west Belfast on the morning of Saturday 23rd August 2025.
The collision occurred shortly after 11.20am in the Genoa Street area, involving Mr McKee as a pedestrian and an Audi vehicle.
Inspector Cherith Adair of the PSNI Collision Investigation Unit said:
“Our officers attended with emergency partners and provided medical assistance. Sadly, the man passed away at the scene. The driver of the Audi did not leave and remained at the scene.”
Police confirmed that enquiries are ongoing and stressed the importance of public assistance in piecing together the events leading up to the collision.
The PSNI has appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dashcam footage to contact Collision Investigation Unit detectives on 101, quoting reference number 608 of 23/08/25.
