A 34-year-old man from Northern Ireland has been charged with online child sexual offences in Australia as a result of a successful joint operation between officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland and Western Australia’s Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team.
C/Insp Fox of the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s International Policing Unit commended the operation, stating, “This is an outstanding example of our officers collaborating across international boundaries to safeguard vulnerable individuals, identifying and prosecuting perpetrators no matter where they are located, and contributing to our objective of ensuring the safety of people both locally and globally. We will continue to collaborate with our international counterparts to prevent similar crimes by online predators in the future. If the offender returns to the UK, he will be subjected to sex offender restrictions.”
