Tragedy in Bangor: 16-Year-Old Jaidyn Rice Killed in Road Collision

Police have confirmed that 16-year-old Jaidyn Rice has sadly died after being struck by a car on the West Circular Road in Bangor late on Tuesday, 8 July. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and witnesses are being urged to come forward.


Heartbreaking Loss in Bangor as Teenager Dies in Road Collision

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has confirmed the death of a 16-year-old girl, Jaidyn Rice, following a road traffic collision on Tuesday, 8 July 2025, in Bangor.

The tragic incident occurred on the West Circular Road at approximately 10:55pm and involved a car and a pedestrian. Emergency services responded swiftly, but sadly, Jaidyn was pronounced dead at the scene.


Investigation Underway

Roads Inspector Cherith Adair, from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“Officers attended the scene alongside partner emergency services. Sadly, the pedestrian – 16-year-old Jaidyn Rice – was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Police are urging witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage from the area around the time of the collision to come forward.

“Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision,” Inspector Adair added. “Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 1774 of 08/07/25, or to submit information via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport.”


Road Reopened

The West Circular Road, which was temporarily closed following the incident, has since reopened fully.
