Belfast, 2 May 2025 – Road users are being warned to expect significant traffic disruption in Belfast on Saturday 3rd May, due to the Irish Cup Final taking place at Windsor Park.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 2:30pm, with an anticipated crowd of around 12,500 spectators attending the south Belfast venue.

Affected Areas

Delays are expected on key routes including:

  • M1 motorway
  • Donegall Road
  • Boucher Road
  • Broadway
  • Broadway Roundabout
  • Glenmachen Street

Additionally, two planned parades in Belfast City Centre, running from 11:30am to 2:00pm, are also expected to contribute to congestion.

Travel Advice and Public Safety

Belfast Area Commander, Chief Superintendent Jeremy Lindsay, urged motorists and supporters to plan their journey well in advance:

“Supporters should be considerate while transiting through residential streets and commercial areas convenient to the stadium. Those driving to the match should park with consideration for local residents and businesses.”

An increased police presence will be in place across the city. Fans are also reminded that street drinking is prohibited in the area surrounding Windsor Park under Belfast City Council by-laws.

Chief Superintendent Lindsay added:

“All fans should behave in a manner befitting the reputations of their teams and refrain from intentionally impeding or obstructing anyone from going about their lawful business. We want everyone to stay safe and enjoy this occasion.”
