Three Appear in Court Over Serious Assaults in Rathfriland

Three individuals have been formally charged in connection with two serious assaults that occurred in Rathfriland on Sunday, 20th July.

Charges Brought Against Three Accused

According to police, the suspects—two men and one woman—face a series of serious charges:

A 23-year-old man has been charged with:

    • Two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm
    • False imprisonment
    • Robbery
    • Theft
    • Theft of a vehicle

A 25-year-old woman has been charged with:

      • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm
      • False imprisonment
      • Robbery
      • Theft
      • Theft of a vehicle

         

        A 29-year-old man is facing:

        • Two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm
        • False imprisonment
        • Non-fatal strangulation
        • Robbery
        • Theft
        • Theft of a vehicle

Court Appearance

All three appeared before Newry Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 22nd July.

As per standard legal procedure, the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) will now review the charges.

The investigation remains ongoing. Further updates will depend on the outcome of the PPS review and any forthcoming court proceedings.
