Suspected Class A Drugs Seized in Derry/Londonderry

A 22-year-old man has been arrested following the seizure of suspected Class A drugs and drug-related paraphernalia in the Spencer Road area of Derry/Londonderry on Tuesday evening, 13th May 2025. Police urge the public to report drug-related activity.


Arrest Made After Suspected Class A Drugs Seized in Derry/Londonderry

Police in Derry City & Strabane have arrested a 22-year-old man after seizing a quantity of suspected Class A drugs during a proactive patrol in the Waterside area on Tuesday evening, 13 May 2025.

At approximately 7.40pm, officers from the District Support Team stopped a male on Spencer Road, resulting in the discovery of controlled substances and drug-related paraphernalia.


Suspect in Custody as Investigations Continue

The man was arrested on suspicion of:

  • Possession of a Class A controlled drug
  • Being concerned in the supply of a Class A controlled drug
  • Obstructing police

He remains in custody at this time.


Police Urge Public to Report Suspicious Activity

Chief Inspector Cathal Pearce commented on the seizure:

“This detection is another example of how our officers are working to tackle the issue of drugs. I appeal to anyone with concerns about suspected drugs activity, or information about suspected drug dealing, to report it to police or to Crimestoppers. Your information can make a difference.”
