Road Users Advised of Traffic Disruption in Carrickfergus on Saturday 14th June

CARRICKFERGUS, 13 June 2025 – The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is advising motorists to prepare for significant traffic disruption and road closures in Carrickfergus this Saturday, 14th June, as the town hosts the annual Carrickfergus Royal Landings celebrations.

Roads Affected and Times:

  • The A2 Belfast Road / Marine Highway / Larne Road will be closed from 11:00am to 6:00pm, from Trooperslane to Beltoy Road.
  • Town centre access roads will also be closed:

    • Woodburn Road and Prospect Road from the junction with Upper Road
    • North Road from the junction of Prince Andrew Way

Diversions and Traffic Management:

  • Diversions will be in place via Trooperslane, Upper Road, Marshallstown Road, and Beltoy Road.
  • Traffic management teams will be on-site and all diversions will be clearly signposted.
  • PSNI officers will assist with traffic control throughout the day.

The Royal Landings event marks the arrival of King William of Orange to Carrickfergus in 1690 and is expected to draw large crowds to the town.

Local residents and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra time for journeys, and follow all signage and PSNI instructions on the day.
