Police are responding to a major firearms incident in the High Street area of Bangor. Around 30 heavily armed officers are on the scene, and a standoff is ongoing following reported gunfire. The area has been cordoned off, and the public is urged to stay away.

Bangor, Northern Ireland – 16 May 2025:
A significant police operation is underway in Bangor, with officers responding to a major firearms incident in the High Street area.

According to early reports, gunshots have been fired, and a standoff is currently ongoing. Approximately 30 heavily armed PSNI officers are in attendance at the scene.


Area Cordoned Off – Public Urged to Stay Away

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has placed cordons around the High Street area and are urging the public to avoid the vicinity while the incident unfolds.
