Police are appealing for information following an arson attack and criminal damage at a commercial property on St. Patrick’s Avenue, Downpatrick, in the early hours of Tuesday, 18 March.
Incident Details
According to Sergeant Smyth, police received a report at 4:05 AM that a car had been set on fire outside a local chip shop.
- The fire damaged the shop’s shutters and signage but did not spread inside the premises.
- Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene and successfully extinguished the fire.
- The incident is being treated as deliberate arson.
Appeal for Witnesses
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, particularly those who:
- Saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident.
- Have CCTV or dash-cam footage that may assist the investigation.
