Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision in Ballyclare

TL;DR: A man in his 50s has died and a woman injured after a hit-and-run in Ballyclare. Police have made one arrest and are appealing for witnesses.


Man Killed in Ballyclare Hit-and-Run

Police have confirmed that a man in his 50s has died following a fatal hit-and-run road traffic collision in Ballyclare on Friday, 15th August.

The incident occurred on Ballyeaston Road, where two pedestrians—a man and a woman—were struck by a car that failed to stop at the scene.


Victims and Arrest

  • The male victim, aged in his 50s, died as a result of his injuries.
  • The female victim, aged in her 40s, was taken to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have arrested one man in connection with the collision. He remains in custody at this time.


Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Chief Inspector O’Loan said:

“Shortly before 10:35pm it was reported that two pedestrians were struck by a car which failed to stop. Sadly, a man has died from his injuries, and a woman was taken to hospital.

A male has been arrested in respect of the collision and remains in custody.

Enquiries are continuing, and we appeal to anyone who was on Ballyeaston Road between 9.30pm and 10.35pm and may have witnessed the collision, or who has dash cam footage, to contact us on 101 quoting reference 1771 15/08/25.”
