One Person Has Sadly Died Following Crash in Co Down

A fatal crash in Comber, County Down, has left one person dead. Emergency services, including the NI Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance, attended the scene on Ballygowan Road. Police have closed the road and diversions remain in place.


Fatal Collision in Comber

One person has died following a serious road traffic collision in Comber, Co Down, earlier today.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) confirmed it received a 999 call at 12:33pm on Monday after the crash occurred on Ballygowan Road.

Emergency services, including one emergency ambulance, a Hazardous Area Response Team, and the Air Ambulance charity, were dispatched to the scene.

A spokesperson for NIAS confirmed that no one was taken from the scene, indicating that the individual was sadly pronounced dead at the location.


Police Close Ballygowan Road

The PSNI confirmed that the Ballygowan Road remains closed due to the serious crash.

“Diversions are in place at the junction of the Old Ballygowan Road and the junction with the Hillsborough Road,”
a PSNI spokesperson said.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while investigations continue.
