A 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal road traffic collision that occurred earlier this month in Bangor, County Down.
The incident happened at approximately 10:55pm on Tuesday, 8 July 2025, on the West Circular Road in Bangor. Tragically, 16-year-old Jaidyn Rice, a pedestrian from the local area, died at the scene following a collision involving a car.
The accused has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving along with other related offences. He is expected to appear before Newtownards Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 29 July.
As is standard procedure, the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) will review all charges.
The Bangor community has been left devastated by the loss of Jaidyn Rice, with tributes pouring in online and locally. Friends and family have described him as a kind, funny, and much-loved young man with a bright future.
