Man Charged After Assault on Ambulance Staff Member in Belfast

A 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with the assault of a Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) worker and the attempted theft of an ambulance in Belfast.

Charges & Court Appearance

The suspect faces multiple charges, including:

  • Assault on a police-designated person
  • Assaulting an ambulance worker
  • Possessing an offensive weapon in a public place
  • Attempted vehicle theft

He is scheduled to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7th April 2025. As per standard procedure, the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) will review all charges.

Incident Details

The charges relate to an incident that took place on Sunday, 9th March, shortly after 10:45 pm in the Lisburn Road area of Belfast. It was reported that the suspect assaulted a male NIAS staff member and then attempted to steal an ambulance.

Additionally, police confirmed that the man also assaulted a police staff member while in custody on the same night.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and further legal proceedings will follow in due course.
