Larne welcomed the festive season in style as families gathered on 21 November for the annual Christmas Lights Switch-On. The event featured a Quiet Hour, festive parade, live entertainment, and the official light switch-on led by Santa and the Mayor of Mid and East Antrim.

Larne Christmas Lights Switch-On 2025 delivered festive magic to the town centre as crowds gathered to welcome the holiday season. This year’s event sparkled with community spirit, festive entertainment, and a spectacular parade. The Larne Christmas Lights Switch-On brought families together for an evening filled with celebration and charm.

A Festive Start with Family Activities

The evening began with a Quiet Hour of outdoor sensory play, allowing families to enjoy a calm and inclusive start to the celebrations. As the event moved into full swing, the town centre filled with:

  • Face painting
  • Christmas characters
  • Street entertainment
  • Live seasonal music

The Festive Parade Steals the Show

One of the highlights of the night was the colourful and energetic Festive Parade, which captivated spectators of all ages.

Led by Santa and the Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Jackson Minford, the parade featured:

  • A lively Samba band
  • Festive floats
  • Pupils from Larne and Inver Primary School
  • Scouts groups
  • Christmas trains

This vibrant display brought music, colour and Christmas cheer right through the heart of Larne.

Lights On: A Magical Moment for the Town

The celebrations reached their pinnacle when Santa and the Mayor officially switched on the Larne Christmas lights. The moment illuminated the town centre, signalling the start of the festive season and bringing joy to everyone attending.
