10-year-old Ballymena fighter Kain Stewart has made history at the WKA World Championships in Sheffield, taking home four gold medals and one silver after moving up two weight divisions to face older, heavier opponents. Known as “King Kain,” his performances left spectators and national coaches in awe — and this is only the beginning of his rise.

King Kain’s World Championship Glory

Kain Stewart, the fearless young fighter from Foxton Wood, Ballymena, has made history at the WKA World Championships held at the iconic Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.

Travelling with the WKA Northern Ireland team, Kain was originally entered in the -25kg full contact boxing division. When the weigh-in revealed no opponents in his natural weight class, he didn’t hesitate — instead, he moved up two full weight categories to compete in the -32kg full contact division.

It was a bold decision that would define his tournament.

Rising to the Challenge

In the semi-finals, Kain faced a strong fighter from Team England. Despite the weight disadvantage and early nerves, he quickly found his rhythm. Using slick footwork, sharp counter-punches, and calm composure, he took control of the bout.

The judges’ scores — 2-1 and 3-0 in Kain’s favour — sealed his spot in the final.

There, he met another technically skilled English opponent. But from the opening bell, Kain dominated with pinpoint accuracy and relentless combinations. When the final bell rang, Kain Stewart was crowned WKA World Champion in the -32kg full contact boxing division.
