On Monday evening, January 9th, there was a report of a serious assault in Ballymoney. Detectives are now appealing for information and witnesses regarding the incident.
Detective Inspector MacCionáoith reported that at approximately 8:30pm, police received a call that five masked men had entered a property in the Meadow View area, armed with a crowbar, sledgehammers, and baseball bats. The three occupants of the property, two men and one woman, sustained serious injuries as a result of the assault and required hospital treatment.
The masked men are believed to have fled the scene on foot, heading towards the Carnany Estate, prior to the arrival of the police. The property and a vehicle parked outside were also found to have sustained substantial damage.
This was a traumatic experience for the occupants of the property, and the police are now conducting an investigation to establish the details of the incident, the identities of the perpetrators, and a possible motive.
The police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious, or who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage that could aid the investigation, to contact detectives on 101, referencing incident number 1665 of 09/01/23.
