The festive fun continues across the Borough this weekend when Carrickfergus and Larne will come alive with sparkle, music and cheer at the annual Christmas lights switch on events!

The events will be full of fun-filled family entertainment plus a very special visit from the main man himself – Santa!

Wrap up warm, bring your family and friends and join us for what promises to be a spectacular start to the festive season!

• Larne Christmas Lights Switch On: Friday 22 November – Broadway, Larne: 5pm – 8pm (switch on 7.30pm). There will be a full programme of entertainment featuring onstage live music, kids’ entertainment, sensory play and festive walkabout performers. 4-5pm will be ‘Quiet Time’ with more relaxed entertainment.  Santa will lead a special parade that will leave Larne Market Yard around 7pm before heading to Broadway to switch on the lights at 7.30pm.

•  Carrickfergus Christmas Lights Switch On: Saturday 23 November – High Street, Carrickfergus 12noon – 6pm (switch on 5.30pm followed by fireworks at 5.45pm). With festive characters, face painting, sensory play, Christmas carnival games and free funfair rides beside the market in High Street car park – there’s lots of fun for all the family! 1-2pm will be ‘Quiet Time’ with more relaxed entertainment.

In addition, the Christmas Market is back in Carrickfergus this year and will take place in a Marquee in High Street Car Park close to the switch on event on Saturday 23 November from 12noon – 5pm.

The market will showcase a wide range of crafters where you will certainly discover that gift, crafted locally.

And while you enjoy the events, check out Council’s new artificial Christmas trees which are taking centre stage in the Borough’s main towns – promising to make this festive season one to remember!

The identical 10-metre cone-shaped trees – funded by the Department for Communities – will feature high-output, low-energy warm white LED lights with cool white twinkle effects, complemented by traditional baubles of various sizes.
