Police have dismantled a large-scale cannabis grow in Antrim with an estimated street value of £1 million.
The discovery was made on Tuesday, 2nd September, when officers from the District Support Team searched a unit in an industrial estate on Steeple Road. Inside, they found hundreds of cannabis plants along with growing equipment, which has now been seized for forensic examination.
Sergeant Lowry described the grow as a “highly sophisticated and well-organised operation” with links to wider criminal activity.
He added:
“By dismantling this extensive grow, we have helped to stop unlawful activity in its tracks. Drug supply and misuse is a vicious cycle that we need to collectively break, and we all have a part to play.”
No arrests have been made at this stage, but officers remained at the scene throughout Tuesday evening as part of their enquiries.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the Steeple Road area to come forward. Information can be reported by calling 101 and quoting reference number 517 02/09/25.

Sergeant Lowry urged the public to remain alert:
“Regardless of how small you think it may seem, this information could potentially make a big difference.”
Police emphasised that cannabis factories are often connected to wider criminal networks, reinforcing the importance of dismantling such operations.
