Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Bangor District Support Team recently conducted a search at a property in the North Street area of Newtownards.

A significant cannabis cultivation was located which included ventilation, hydroponic and lighting equipment as well as plants at various stages of growth.

Staff from Northern Ireland Electricity assisted in making the property safe due to electricity being bypassed.

During the search on Sunday afternoon, 24th March, the team seized suspected herbal cannabis with an approximate street value of £40,000.

A police spokesperson said: “We are actively committed to removing drugs from our streets and will proactively investigate and carry out searches to disrupt this activity and those involved in the drugs trade.”

If you have any information about the use or supply of drugs you can contact police on 101 or report online using the non-emergency reporting form. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
