Belfast Motorcyclist (25) Dies in Cushendall Road Collision

TL;DR: A 25-year-old man from Belfast, William Hewitt, has died following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Loughareema Road, near Cushendall, on Sunday, 10 August 2025. Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage.


Belfast Man Killed in Cushendall Motorcycle Crash

A young Belfast motorcyclist has tragically died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision on Loughareema Road, outside Cushendall, on Sunday, 10 August 2025.

The victim has been named as William Hewitt, aged 25.


Emergency Services Responded to the Scene

Roads Policing Inspector Cherith Adair from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit confirmed officers received a report of the crash shortly after 11.30am.

Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service also attended, but despite their efforts, Mr Hewitt died from his injuries at the scene.


Police Appeal for Witnesses

The investigation into the fatal collision remains ongoing. Police are particularly keen to speak with the driver of a tractor who assisted at the scene.

Anyone with mobile phone footage, dash-cam recordings, or information that may help is urged to contact the PSNI on 101, quoting reference 655 of 10/08/25.
