Attempted ATM Theft in Newtownabbey Sparks Police Appeal for Information

Police are investigating an attempted ATM theft at a garage on Manse Road, Newtownabbey, that occurred around 12:45am on Friday, 25 July 2025. Three masked individuals tried to break into the ATM but fled empty-handed. Witnesses or those with information are urged to contact the PSNI.


Police Investigate Failed ATM Robbery in Manse Road Area

An attempted ATM theft in Newtownabbey is under investigation after three suspects tried to break into a cash machine at a local garage in the early hours of Friday, 25 July.

According to Detective Sergeant Monaghan, the incident took place around 12:45am when three individuals—wearing gloves, hoods, and with their faces covered—entered a forecourt on Manse Road.

“Two of the suspects began prising open the rear of the ATM using tools,” the officer said. “They left the scene shortly after, without stealing any money.”

Appeal for Witnesses and Information

Police are appealing to the public for any information that could help identify those involved in the attempted theft.

If you were in the Manse Road area around 12:45am on 25 July and saw suspicious behaviour, you are encouraged to come forward.
