Antrim and Newtownabbey Council Supports Those in Need This Christmas

Christmas Toy Scheme

Running until 7 December, the Christmas Toy Scheme allows residents to donate gently used toys at the Council’s Household Recycling Centres.

Toys will be processed and redistributed by Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland, with a ReStore Pop-up Toy Event taking place on Friday 5 December, from 10.30am to 2.30pm at Muckamore Community Centre. The event is held in partnership with the Muckamore Parish Development Association.

Families will be able to select toys at minimal cost, helping reduce the financial pressure often felt during the festive period.

The Stuff a Bus initiative helps prevent hunger across Northern Ireland this Christmas. The campaign, delivered by Translink, in partnership with FareShare NI, Belfast Live, and U105, provides essential food support to families in need.

Until 18 December, donation points will be available at:

  • Mossley Mill
  • Antrim Civic Centre
  • Ballyclare Town Hall

Residents are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items. All contributions will be supplied to local food banks, schools, community groups, and frontline charities.

A Message from the Mayor

Mayor Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick said:

“Christmas is meant to be a wonderful time of year, but unfortunately there are people in our Borough who are less fortunate than others. We have a fantastic community spirit across Antrim and Newtownabbey, and I am hopeful that we can all come together and support these campaigns. Whether it is purchasing an extra pair of pyjamas or donating food items, I encourage everyone to help those in need this festive season.”
