An update regarding the investigation into the attempted murder of DCI John Caldwell.

Two men, aged 33 and 57, who were arrested in connection with the investigation into the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell, have been released following questioning. The incident occurred on February 22nd in the Killyclogher Road area of Omagh. The Major Investigation Team detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. Witnesses can contact the police by calling 101.

The detectives are also drawing attention to a reward of up to £20,000 offered by Crimestoppers, a charity that operates independently of the police, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the attempted murder of John Caldwell. Information can be provided anonymously to the charity on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

In addition to the charity, the police are accepting information, including photos, CCTV footage, and dash-cam footage, through the Major Incident Public Portal at https://mipp.police.uk/operation/PSNI23S03-PO1. The police are hopeful that this information will lead to progress in the investigation and ultimately result in the identification and capture of those responsible for the attack.
