Off-Road Bikers Disrupt Community Event in Monkstown

Last Tuesday afternoon (December 3, 2024), a community event in Monkstown was disrupted when two individuals on off-road bikes caused an unexpected incident. Around 2:00 pm, Neighbourhood Police Officers, who were attending the event, had parked their patrol vehicle on Cashel Drive.

While the officers were engaged in community activities, two riders on an off-road scrambler bike and an electric Surron decided to take actions that temporarily disabled the patrol vehicle. As a result, the officers were momentarily diverted from their duties, and the vehicle was taken out of service for a short time.

Such reckless use of off-road bikes in public spaces and on roads has become a growing concern in the area. The riders not only disrupt community life but also pose significant safety risks to themselves and others. This particular incident escalated when the bikes were later seen heading into Rathfern.

Police are now appealing to the public for information that could help identify the riders or locate the bikes involved. If you recognize the bikes or know where the riders might live, you are encouraged to come forward. One of the bikes is described as a petrol-powered off-road scrambler, while the other was an electric Surron.
