Appeal for information following a report of criminal damage in Derry / Londonderry

Authorities in Derry/Londonderry are seeking information regarding an incident of vandalism that occurred in the Fountain area on Saturday, January 7th.

According to Inspector Fell, a group of young individuals were witnessed throwing rocks at two houses, causing damage to a window, an interior wall, and children’s toys. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by the children who were present inside one of the properties at the time. It is believed that the suspects fled the scene via Hawkin Street towards New Gate.

This case is currently being treated as a hate crime motivated by sectarianism. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the police by calling 101 and referencing reference number 1187 07/01/23 or by using the non-emergency reporting form on the police website.
