The Mid-Ulster Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MACP) is hosting its “From the Dark Into Light” 5K charity walk on Saturday 30th May 2026 in Coalisland. The early morning walk aims to raise awareness and support for mental health, suicide prevention, and accessible counselling services across Mid-Ulster.
The Mid-Ulster Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MACP) is inviting the local community to take part in a meaningful sunrise walk this May to support mental health awareness and suicide prevention services.
Taking place on Saturday 30th May 2026, the “From the Dark Into Light” event will see participants gather at Fianna GAA Club before dawn for a special 5K walk symbolising hope, healing, and support for those struggling with mental health challenges.
The charity says the event is focused on bringing communities together while highlighting the importance of accessible counselling and emotional support services for people facing difficult times.
Donations are welcome to help support MACP’s counselling and mental health services.
MACP, based in Coalisland, provides counselling and psychotherapy support services throughout the Mid-Ulster area.
According to the organisation, support is urgently needed for individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts, grief following the loss of a loved one to suicide, and those facing severe emotional distress.
The charity also emphasises the importance of making counselling services available locally, quickly, confidentially, and at a low cost — or free where possible.
Student counsellors working alongside MACP help provide affordable counselling services while fully qualified and accredited practitioners offer support for more complex needs, including suicide intervention and severe self-harm cases.
The early morning walk is designed to represent moving “from the dark into light,” offering a powerful symbol of hope and recovery for those affected by mental health struggles.
Organisers hope the event will encourage conversation around mental health while helping to reduce stigma and isolation within local communities.
The charity is encouraging individuals, families, friends, and community groups to come together and take part.
