Detectives launch murder investigation following the death of a man in Lurgan

Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team has begun a murder investigation after the death of Shane Whitla, 39, from Lurgan on the evening of January 12th.

The investigation reveals that he died from gunshot wounds. A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the incident and is currently in custody. The police are still at the scene and the park is closed while they conduct their investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell is asking for anyone with information about the incident to come forward. He said, “Were you in the Lord Lurgan Park area of the town yesterday evening? Did you see the attack, or see or hear anything untoward? Please contact us with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, on 101.”
