Tributes are flooding in for Lyra,…
I met Lyra McKee when she was seeking support to write a book about the murder of Unionist MP Robert Bradford, killed in 1981. 38 years later, Lyra herself is murdered. Investigative journalism is essential to democracy. Like Robert's murder, this was an attack on democracy.

Just woken to the terrible news Lyra McKee was shot in Derry last night. First met Lyra when she was 15, already burning with passion for journalism & justice. A fun, thoughtful presence on Twitter always. Beyond shocked her vibrant life has been ended by these toxic throwbacks

Sick to my stomach at death of Lyra McKee in Derry. She was an inspiring thinker and journalist. Last night she was killed by a thug terrorizing people in Derry. Anyone with information should contact #PSNI .

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Lyra McKee. Disgusting murder by terrorists who have needlessly cut short a young life. Society needs to reject these people once and for all. @ChiefConPSNI @PoliceServiceNI @NIPolicingBoard https://t.co/MAV5Ua1htg
