New Highway Code regarding cyclists on the road doesn’t apply to Northern Ireland
The new Highway Code has been making the headlines recently.
This has been causing a lot of heated debates on prioritising cyclists and pedestrians.
These new highway codes do not currently apply to Northern Ireland, road users.

Recent changes to the Highway Code have been making the headlines recently.
There has been some heated discussion around the prioritising of cyclists and pedestrians.
It is important to note that these changes DO NOT currently apply to Northern Ireland.
We have again had concerns raised to us regarding cyclists and motorists, particularly within the Peninsula area.
The roads around the Peninsula can be extremely dangerous and mutual respect from ALL road users is an absolute must.
Rule 66 of the Highway Code for Northern Ireland (Rules for Cyclists) states:
‘You SHOULD – never ride more than two abreast and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads or when riding around bends.’
Equally, motorists must exercise patience and give plenty of room when performing an overtake of cyclists.
Following this simple common sense advice/rules will go a long way to ensuring the safety of all on our roads.
