Police have confirmed that a male had died following a road traffic collision on the Newcastle Road in Castlewellan in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 30 January)
The young man who sadly lost his life this morning was named, Marc Garry Quinn 18 years old from the Castlewellan area.
The collision happened shortly before 1:30am, which involved a black Sportage.
Marc was treated at the scene but sadly died in hospital a short time later.
The PSNI Collision Investigation Unit are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam footage to contact them on 101 quoting reference 166 of 30/01/22.
