Following an influx of ratings, Google and TripAdvisor have blocked reviews in Russia.
Anonymous issued a tweet earlier this week encouraging people to submit reviews of Russian businesses and restaurants in order to alert citizens about their country’s invasion of Ukraine.
The concept was published on a hacktivist group’s Twitter account in response to accusations that Russia’s state-run media minimised the attack on Ukraine.
Thousands of people responded to the tweet, which included a Russian message for people to use, with many saying that they had submitted reviews for everything from hotels and restaurants to karaoke clubs and law companies.
The effort was so successful that Google had to put a stop to any fresh reviews for the time being.
Go to Google Maps. Go to Russia. Find a restaurant or business and write a review. When you write the review explain what is happening in Ukraine.
