Team Ulster Win 2019 President’s Cup and Hansa National Championships

On 17th and 18th August Belfast Lough Sailability (BLS) along with two volunteers from Foyle Sailability, making up Team Ulster, took part in The President’s Cup, hosted by the Royal St. George Yacht Club in DunLaoghaire.  The President’s Cup consists of the four Provinces of Ireland sailing against each other in four different classes of boats.

The weather on Saturday was challenging to say the least with heavy sailing which at times was on the edge.  The Squibs sailed outside in Dublin Bay with the 2.4’s and Hansa Dinghy’s sailing inside the Harbour.  Overnight Team Ulster were in the lead from Team Munster by 1 point.  The racing on Sunday was cancelled in anticipation of more than 20 knots of breeze forecast which would have been over the recommended strength for these boats to sail in.
